Responsibilities for Outlook 98 Migration Project included:

  • Reconfiguring Network Properties:
  • -Changing Primary Login Client from Netware to MS Network Client
  • -Setting TCP/IP as default protocol (from IPX/SPX)
  • -Reconfiguring existing Static IP addresses to DHCP

  • -Backup (from old PCs) and restoration (to new PCs) of all user data files and PC/Network settings (drive and printer mappings, mainframe sessions, etc)
  • -Setting up new machines with company standard images, then installing and configuring department standard applications (such as Attachmate Extra 6.2, APS, Essbase (MS Excel plug-in), and other proprietary applications)
  • Application of Y2K compliance upgrades/service packs on existing Pentium-class Notebooks and Desktop PCs:
  • -Upgrading system BIOS (when required)

    -Applying Win95, NT 4, and MS Office 95/97 Service Packs

    -Applying Y2K, 4 Digit Year patches

    -Running MSD/Y2K tests, then uploading test result files to server

    -Record extensively detailed machine and user information into database

    -Upgrading and/or repartitioning hard drives that lacked the required disk space (using Norton Ghost v3.x and 5.x)

    -Installation of various company standard (required) applications: Tivoli (client-side), Adobe Acrobat, APS, etc.
